The last three Sundays we have used Scripture and the Lyrics of an old Hymn to point us to Jesus in our worship. Each portion of what we used is below.

2.10.19 – Philippians 2:5-8 & Colossian 1:15-23

Philippians 2:5-8

Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,[a] who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped,[b] but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant,[c] being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

Colossians 1:15-20

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by[a] him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. 17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.18 And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. 19 For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.

2.17.19 – Poem/Hymn by Clara T. Williams

All my life I had a longing
For a drink from some cool spring,
That I hoped would quench the burning
Of the thirst I felt within.

  • Refrain:
    Hallelujah! I have found Him
Whom my soul so long has craved!
    Jesus satisfies my longings,
Through His blood I now am saved.

2.24.19 – Psalm 96:7-9; Matthew 16:24-25; Matthew 28:20

Psalm 96:7-9

Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples,
ascribe to the Lord glory and strength!
Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
bring an offering, and come into his courts!
Worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness;[a]
tremble before him, all the earth!

Matthew 16:24-25

Take Up Your Cross and Follow Jesus

24 Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 25 For whoever would save his life[a]will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

Matthew 28:20b

20 …And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
