This week we focused on corporate confession. It’s important for us to confess together as a church family. We recognize that we are sinners in need of a savior and state that publicly. We used three parts to work through confession. We introduced it with scripture to state why we are confessing and we asked God to search and know us. We followed that with a call and response confessional reading in which I lead and the people joined me in saying that underlined portions. We follow this confession with 1 Peter 1:3 which led us into our next song called Living Hope by Phil Wickham. We ALWAYS follow confession with leaning into Jesus and the hope that we have in Him. We do NOT wallow in our sin and shame because we are free in Christ!
We confess that we have sinned against you
in thought, word, and deed,
by what we have done,
and by what we have left undone.
We have not loved you
with our whole heart and mind and strength.
We have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.
In your mercy forgive what we have been,
help us amend what we are,
and direct what we shall be,
so that we may delight in your will
and walk in your ways,
to the glory of your holy name.
Through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Born Again to a Living Hope – 1 Peter 1:3
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead
