HEAVENLY FATHER WHO HEARS MY PRAYERS,
Teach me to pray.
I confess that in religious exercises
the language of my lips and the feelings
of my heart have not always agreed,
that I have frequently taken carelessly upon
my tongue a name never pronounced above
without reverence and humility,
that I have often desired things which would
have injured me,
that I have depreciated some of my chief mercies,
that I have erred both on the side of my hopes
and also of my fears,
that I am unfit to choose for myself,
for it is not in me to direct my steps.
Let your Spirit help my infirmities,
for I know not what to pray for as I ought.
Let him produce in me wise desires by which
I may ask right things,
then I shall know you hear me.
May I never be impatient for temporal blessings,
but always refer them to your fatherly goodness,
for you know what I need before I ask;
May I never think I prosper unless my soul prospers,
or that I am rich unless rich toward you my God,
or that I am wise unless wise unto salvation.
May I seek first your kingdom and its righteousness.
May I value things in relation to eternity.
May my spiritual welfare be my highest cause.
May I be poor, afflicted, despised and have
rather than be successful in enterprise,
or have more than my heart can wish,
or be admired by my fellow-men,
if thereby these things make me forget you.
May I regard the world as dreams, lies, vanities,
exhaustion of spirit,
and desire to depart from it.
And may I seek my happiness in your favor,
your image, your presence, your service.

Last Sunday our sermon came from Titus 2:9-10: “Bondservants are to be submissive to their own masters in everything; they are to be well-pleasing, not argumentative, not pilfering, but showing all good faith, so that in everything they may adorn the doctrine of God...
Rest is such a foreign concept to us. Whenever someone asks us how we are doing we tend to say "busy", but what if we were able to say the word "rested" instead? Scripture profoundly speaks to rest in this way. Here are some thoughts as it relates to Mark 2 and...
This is a continuation from Titus - Introduction - Part 1, where Pastor Kyle is focusing on the first 4 verses in the book of Titus and 4 purposes for Christians in covenant with God. Paul’s ministry as a servant of God was "for the hope of eternal life”. As we grow...
Paul introduces himself in his letter to Titus as, “Paul, a servant of God”. At first reading, this title does not sound out of place, in fact, it sounds common. However, this is the only time in all of the New Testament that Paul refers to himself as a “Servant of...
